Forbes Shire Council is a safe and welcoming community. The Forbes Shire boasts a large calendar of events targeting youth specifically, which include but is not limited to Youth Week, School Holiday Programs and the year 5 excursion aimed at fostering inclusion and building positive relationships.

NAIDOC Week 2020

Always Was, Always Will Be
NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates and recognises the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and to foster greater understanding of Indigenous culture.

Nominations are now option for the 2020 NAIDOC Awards, complete the nomination form here (PDF 326.5KB) to recognise the outstanding contributions that our local indigenous people make to improve our community, in the following five categories:

  1. Indigenous Person of the Year (18 years and over)
  2. Indigenous Youth of the Year (Under 18 years)
  3. Indigenous Sports Person of the Year 
  4. Indgenous Creative Person of the Year 
  5. Indigenous Community Member (Volunteer) of the Year
