Step 3: Apply

You must lodge an application for planning approval before starting development or use of land within the Shire, unless the type of development or use is exempt from requiring planning approval. Development approvals ensure that your development complies with Council’s local planning scheme and other relevant legislation and policies.

Applicants can discuss planning proposals and preliminary plans with the Council’s planning officers to get a better understanding of the process. Planning officers can also advise on a proposed development or land use, and the information required to lodge a complete application.

As of the 1st January 2021, Council will no longer accept Development Applications over the counter or digitally.
