From the 1st of June, NSW will be open again for people to travel again for holidays – and the Forbes Shire is busting to welcome people back to the region.
“If you’ve been dreaming of the day when you can hit the open road again, you now can! We can all now safely travel to those much loved regional areas again,” says Forbes Shire Council Mayor, Phyllis Miller.
Forbes Shire has joined with eleven councils to promote regional tourism in the Central West region. Renowned videographer, Andrew Barnes has been commissioned to capture the “We want you back” campaign, which features local tourism ambassadors Mel Sinclair from Cenwest Tours and Wendy Muffet from Girragirra. The promotion will be showcased on social media and digital channels.
“With our countryside full of lush green paddocks at the moment and our fresh country air to fill your lungs, you will soon forget the isolation blues. Our town is full of cafés, boutique retail and hearty pubs, eager to keep you warm and welcome this Winter. Our locals can’t wait to welcome you back!” says Mayor Miller.
“There are so many amazing things to explore here in Forbes and we invite you to come and discover them. There’s the sculpture trail which meanders around our wonderful town and out to the amazing sign on the Condobolin road. For the nature lovers there is Gum Swamp bird hide and hundreds of different species of bird life,” Mayor Miller explains. “We have the beautiful Lake Forbes close to town and the mighty Lachlan River nearby, which is a must for all the anglers.”
“Unfortunately we cannot host the amazing event we had planned for Frost and Fire this year,” says Mayor Miller. “We are however doing Frost and Fire at Home! This virtual event will encourage people in the Forbes community and beyond to get into the Frost and Fire spirit and take part in celebrating the Winter Solstice with Frost and Fire at Home.”
“On the 20th of June, families and friends are encouraged to get toasty in front of a fire bucket in their backyard, with correct social distancing applied to each other and the fire, order some delicious take away to support local businesses, listen to their favourite Australian Artist and share the fun on Facebook and Instagram using #frostandfireathome and #amazingforbes hashtags” asks Mayor Miller.
