Tip Times During Covid Lockdown

Mayor Phyllis Miller OAM has expressed her gratitude for the patience of Forbes residents while the Forbes Landfills have been closed this week to residential rubbish disposal.

“We do not take decisions such as this lightly,” said Mayor Miller. “And we really need to establish that fine balance between keeping the community safe and allowing all residents to safely dispose of their rubbish in a timely fashion.”

In line with this Mayor Miller is advising that the Landfills will open temporarily over the weekend to allow residents to use them. There will be special conditions that need to be adhered to at each site.

“We know that this is not what people are used to with our tips and there may be some delays when waiting for your turn, but we really need everyone to try and be patient. Remember too that this won’t be an opportunity to have a social outing.  We need people to dispose of their rubbish and then return home,” Mayor Miller continues.  “It’s also for those who don’t have regular kerbside collection, so please keep that in mind. Moving forward if the stay at home orders continue, this may be the way that we manage the landfills. We will continue to keep you informed.”
