Background

I was born in Yass and grew up in a little town named Binalong. My father was a railway worker, so we moved around a bit. He died prematurely at 37 years of age and consequently we remained in Binalong. I attended the Binalong Public School, followed by Harden Murrumburrah Intermediate High School and then onto secretarial college in Young. My first job was in the accounts department of a large store in Harden, George Sewell & Co. After having my first child I then commenced work at Harden Murrumburrah Hospital in administration. We moved to Forbes in January 1974 and I did some relief work at the Forbes Hospital. After having my second child I commenced work with the Forbes Wilcannia Diocesan Catholic Education Office. On the 1/3/1982 we opened our own business Miller & Co. Better known these days as KMWL.  I love to cook, play squash, watch footy and tennis. I love spending time with my family, especially my beautiful grandchildren.

I am passionate about my beloved town of Forbes and its economic future. My passion for Forbes is to have a great health network, education, policing and a strong economic base with jobs growth. I am proud and honoured to be Mayor of our great town. I have worked for 25 years to build my capacity and knowledge to effectively do the job. I have studied extensively and attended Canberra University Centre for Local Government Studies. I have also completed my elected members diploma and a company directors course. I am a board member on both Local Government NSW and the Australian Local Government Board. I represent local government on the State Weeds Committee and National Parks and Wildlife Council. I have been an elected Councillor for 25 years in September 2020. I love Forbes. I love Local Government and I am a passionate advocate for a fair go for rural, regional NSW and Australia.
