International Day of People with a Disability

International Day People with Disability Header

International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD) is a universally recognised day of acceptance, understanding and awareness.

Forbes Shire Council, in partnership with local service providers and schools, participates annually in the event to celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with disabilities in our community. Forbes Shire Council is committed to recognising this important day on the calendar and encouraging everyone to get involved in the day. In 2019, Forbes celebrated International Day of People with Disability with a Pool Party on the 3rd of December at the Forbes Olympic Pool. The day was a great success, with participants enjoying a free BBQ and cake, taking part in sensory painting and chair yoga, participating in a performance by Mainly Music and some people even braved the unseasonably cold weather for a swim in the pool!

The annual event for 2020 was postponed and is now scheduled for February 2021 due to COVID restrictions! Please see below the relevant information and join us for a free, fun-filled day at the Forbes Olympic Pool!
