Forbes Shire Council takes a productive approach to encouraging economic development within our Shire, specifically, to encourage job growth & wealth creation within our community.

Forbes has a diverse economic base, including, for example irrigated land holdings, dairy operations, dry farming, manufacturing industries & tourism.

The Council is pro-development & has incentive policies in place to encourage new development.
Forbes Shire has particular interests in assisting in the following areas:

Value adding agricultural projects
Horticulture
Transport industries
Manufacturing & construction
Tourism Development

Forbes Shire has an industry incentive policy to establish new businesses in the Shire or to assist existing business to expand. The policy is based on the number of employees generated (in excess of four) by the new business or expansion. The amount of funds provided is subject to annual budget allocations & assesment by Council of the project.
