Submit Your Application

The main steps in lodging a Development Application (DA) and what happens after determination are described here. Please read the forms and flowcharts provided to gain a full understanding of the process. You should also talk to your builder or consultant about complying with all your legal obligations.

Download the DA form

To lodge a DA with Council either download the form from the “documents” section below or obtain a DA pack from our Environmental Services & Planning department.

The form includes a checklist which details everything you will have to supply with your application so it can be processed. This might include plans, reports, certificates and other items of information. Use the checklist to ensure your application is complete.

It is very important that you get advice on your proposal from Council before you lodge your DA form.

How to lodge your DA

Once complete your application must be delivered to council by mail or in person at 2 Court Street, Forbes. DA's cannot be lodged online.

Council will accept an emailed version of the development application. Please email your application to development@forbes.nsw.gov.au with all relevant information attached.

You must ensure that all the required documents are with the form when you deliver it to us.

Fees apply at this stage of the DA process. Call us on 02 6850 2344 to find out which fees apply to your application.

What happens next?

After an initial review to make sure your application is complete, Council notify your neighbours of your development proposal and in some cases may advertise the proposed development and allow time for community submissions.

Next Council will assess the DA to see if it complies with all the relevant legislation and development controls. If the development does not comply and/or it lacks important information, Council will ask you to provide additional information so you can address the matters raised. Most DA's are determined by Council’s assessment staff, however, development applications that receive submissions may be referred to a Council Meeting to be determined. After this determination process Council will advise you of the outcome.
