Mayor launches multi-million dollar 'Superbee Honey Factory'Forbes Mayor, Councillor Rhonda Keane, officially launched “Superbee Honey Factory” at its new manufacturing site in Forbes on May 24 (11:00 am – May 24, 2008 – Superbee Honey Factory). Superbee Honey Factory; one of Australia’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of both bulk and retailed packaged honey, has moved its operations from Queensland’s Sunshine Coast to Forbes in early 2008, as a result of a thorough feasibility study being conducted with several potential locations investigated nationwide. Councillor Keane has welcomed the new industry to Forbes saying it is a significant boost to the local economy. “It is important for Forbes’ economy to attract new business to town, an innovative company like Superbee Honey Factory brings with it new industry and technology, new jobs and new skills and training for local people”, Cr. Keane said. Superbee Honey Factory supplies pure Australian honey and quality hive products throughout Australia and to over 25 countries around the world. General Manager, Chris Kath, says Forbes offered a number of advantages to the business, including; supply of raw honey from beekeepers, improved logistic access to major domestic markets, as well as excellent Council and community support. “From our new 3800 square meter factory in Forbes, Superbee aims to become Australia’s leading privately owned packer of premium grade honey and bee products”, Mr Kath said. “We’ve recruited and trained excellent local staff and Superbee Honey Factory is operating once again at full capacity. We thank around 700 community members who joined us to celebrate at our official opening on May 24, with guided tours, honey tasting, product displays, sales and official unveiling of the new look site”, he said.
