Shire Council welcomes Federal announcement on regional development Australia.
Mayor Keane welcomes the recent
Federal Government announcement of the Regional Development Australia
initiative.
"Regional Development Australia
will replace the old Area Consultative Committees. In the first instance, the
name change is welcomed as it now says what it is," said Mayor Keane.
"I am also really pleased to
see that we will have on the ground support as we had in the old Regional
Partnerships Program. We have had very good support from the staff in the
region and look forward to working with the rebadged team," said Mayor Keane.
"At the recent Board meeting of
Centroc we heard back from Canberra that the Federal Government wants to work
with local government on a regional basis. Now they have committed to Regional
Development Australia there is a mechanism to achieve this," said Mayor Keane.
"There is a new direction
linking infrastructure and regionalism nationally and I look forward to hearing
more about it at the next Centroc Board meeting," said Mayor Keane.
"You have to be in it to
win it, and I will be making sure that Forbes Shire Council is keeping up
and getting
their fair share or better," said Mayor Keane.
