FAQs
When am I required to lodge a Development Application?
Development Applications (DA's) are generally required for use of land or a building, subdivision, erection of a building, carrying out work and demolition as well as for some public gatherings. Some very minor types of development called Exempt Development do not require development consent. Before you make any changes to a building, build a structure, or occupy premises you need to check whether the propsal is permissible and whether it is "development" that requires an application. You can obtain this advice from Council's Environmental Services Department on 6850 1344. Our Environmental Services staff are available to discuss planning issues with you, particularly if you have a large project or a development that will require significant changes to the bulding and/or natural environment. Pre lodgement meetings are encouraged for commercial, industrial and medium density developments.
