Forbes Urban Landcare Group (FULG)Forbes Shire Council is committed to developing strategies to address pressing environmental issues that are arising within the Forbes Shire. The development and support of action groups within the community such as the Forbes Urban Landcare Group (FULG), has ensured that natural amenities such as the picturesque Lake Forbes, can be enjoyed by generations well into the future. Formed in 1993, the community based Forbes Urban Landcare Group focuses on issues including: dryland salinity and the management of Lake Forbes by monitoring the health and beauty of the area along with water quality, monitoring macro-invertebrates, plant life and nutrient variables such as phosphorus, nitrogen and salinity. This group works in conjunction with local schools in the Forbes Shire, to promote Landcare education amongst the youth of the region.
