Pollution Control

Clean Up Australia Day

Clean Up Australia Day is just one initiative undertaken by Forbes Shire Council in an attempt to eridacte pollution within the Shire.

The annual cleanup is always very well supported by Forbes residents who will go to great lengths to keep our amazingly natural resources looking at their breath-taking best.  Particular focus of the clean up over the past few years, has been centred upon the picturesque surrounds of Lake Forbes (pictured).

Important Information for 2006 Clean Up

The 2006 Clean Up Australia Day will be held on Sunday 5th March, with particpants asked to assemble at Victoria Park at 9am for volunteer registration. Volunteers will then be supplied with kits containing gloves, bags, handwash and disposal containers, before being distributed to one of the nine registered Clean Up sites.

Currently, the 9 registered sites include:

·          Lake Forbes

·          Town CBD

·          Cottons Weir

·          The Aquatic Centre

·          All major approaches to town (Parkes, West Wyalong, Orange, Cowra, Calarie Roads)

At the conclusion of the morning clean up, Council would like to invite all registered volunteers to a free barbeque lunch to be held at 1pm at Apex Park as our way of saying "thank you".

If you require any further information about Clean Up Australia Day, please contact Mr. Lee Dunstan, the event Coordinator on 6850 1344.
