The Central West Livestock Exchanged officially opened in 2006 when the brand new $10.4 million dollar cattle auction facility was completed. This was followed with the opening of the $15 million dollar sheep auction facility in late 2010 and then in April 2012 the pig auction facility completed the project.
The Forbes Central West Livestock Exchange is a state of the art facility and proven choice for buying and selling premium quality cattle, sheep, lambs and pigs. Located just 12kms North from the centre of Forbes and ideally positioned just off the Newell Highway (Back Yamma Road); the main inland roadlink from Victoria to Queensland which runs parallel to the East Coast about 400km inland.
The Forbes Central West Livestock Exchange offers buyers and sellers a modern, safe and fully maintained facility that is second to none.
Cattle sales are conducted each Monday and sheep sales each Tuesday.
Store Cattle sales are held monthly.
Pig sales are conducted every second Friday.

The Central West Livestock Exchange is a Council worksite and we must ensure a safe and healthy environment for all saleyard users.
As part of that commitment, we require all users of the facility to undertake a WHS Site Induction to improve their own, and other users safety.
You can choose to use this online induction facility, or speak with staff at the Exchange for alternate options for completing the induction. Once you have completed the CWLE Site Induction, an Induction Card will be mailed out to you. Alternatively, you may choose to collect it from the Saleyard Supervisor's Office.

Your Roles and Responsibilities under Chain of ResponsibilityIn accordance with the Protection of the Environment Legislation Amendment Act 2011, the links below provides access to recent Council’s Pollution Monitoring Data for the Central West Livestock Exchange at Forbes.
For each year data shows quarterly results of concentrations
of various pollutants in the effluent discharge, yearly results of
concentrations of various pollutants in discharging solid waste and yearly
results of concentrations of various pollutants in Surface Soils and
Sub-Surface Soils in Irrigation Areas.
