Updated road closures and river heights

7 Sep 2016 11:32 AM -
Tweet

Forbes Shire Council advises that Wirrinya Road (at Dog and Duck) and Sir Francis Forbes Drive (Camp Street to Newell Highway) are now closed to all traffic:

The following roads remain closed to all traffic until further notice:

·         Wandary Lane (East to Dukes Road)

·         Dukes Road (Lachlan Valley Way to Wandary Lane)

·         Wongajong Road (Lachlan Valley Way to Henry Lawson Way)

·         Lower Bathurst Street (at Torig Road)

·         Sandhills Road (multiple causeways)

·         Lachlan Valley Way (Cowra Road) closed at Dukes Crossing detour via Newell Highway/Mid Western Highway

·         Henry Lawson Way closed at Muddy Lagoon detour via New Grenfell Road

·         The Escort Way between Forbes and Eugowra at Southern Cross detour via Parkes

·         Bedgerabong Road (at Little Plains)

·         Yarrabandai Road (intersection with Corridgery Road)

·         Paytens Bridge Road (multiple locations)

·         Noakes Road (Bedgerabong)

·         Trigg Hill Road (Cookamidgera)

·         Bundaburrah Crossing (Farnell Street/Show Street) accessible to B-Doubles only with extreme caution

·         Forest Road (from Littles Road to Troubalgie Road)

·         Wambat Street (Johnny Woods Crossing)

·         Gordon Duff Drive (Wambat St to Camp St)

·         Quirks/Drabsch Road (several kilometres)

·         Salisbury Road (at Salisbury Crossing between Bedgerabong Road and Racecourse Road)

There is currently 150mm of water over the road, which is fast flowing, at Lachlan Valley Way (South Condobolin Road) at the area known as 21 Mile, with a current prediction of road closure at lunch time.

Water is also over the road at New Grenfell Road (Gordon Duff Bridge), Coonambro Way (Cookamidgera area), Ashburnham Road (Cookamidgera area), Thurungle Road (between Pinnacle Road and MR236), Shanahans Road (between Thurungle Road and Palazzis Lane) and Pinnacle Road (Garema area).

These roads have been signposted and are still open. Motorists should proceed with caution.

Council reminds residents that it is not only an offence to drive through a road closed sign, it is also dangerous as the road pavement condition is not known and there could be submerged logs in the water.

Motorists can also check Livetraffic for updates before travelling.

Should you have any queries, or wish to report water over road, please do not hesitate to contact Engineering and Technical Services on 6850 2874 between 8.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday or 1300 978 633 after hours.

The latest Lachlan River heights issued by the Bureau of Meteorology www.bom.gov.au at 11.15am on Wednesday, September 6 are:

·         Nanami 10.62m

·         Mulyandry Creek 11.20m

·         Forbes Iron Bridge 10.28m

·         Cottons Weir 6.37m

·         Jemalong Weir D/S 7.53m

Forbes Iron Bridge is predicted to peak at 10.35m late this afternoon.
