The Forbes Neighbourhood Watch AGM
is on tonight at 7.30pm at the Forbes Services Memorial Club and with the
current spate of break and enters, Mayor Phyllis Miller OAM said it is a good time
for more community members to get involved.
Forbes Neighbourhood Watch meets on the first Monday of every month and aims to minimise preventable crime, improve security and encourage reporting of criminal activity to create a safer community.
It is a community based non-profit scheme relying entirely on volunteers.
Mayor Miller said it was important to look out for one another and report any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood to Police.
“Neighbourhood Watch supports the idea of preventing crime by knowing who is around and talking to your neighbours,” she said.
“It is important to look out for one
another and that’s what Neighbourhood Watch is all about.”
Forbes Neighbourhood Watch will elect a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and grants coordinator tonight as well as new committee members.
