Mayor of Forbes, Cr Ron Penny is excited to announce the wait is over – construction of the new Forbes Homemaker Centre starts tomorrow! After months of negotiations, planning and approvals, Mayor Penny confirmed that the first sod would be turned at 11am tomorrow.
Council will be joined on site by Project Managers; Projects and Infrastructure as well as representatives from Richard Crookes Constructions. “This is a significant day for Forbes as well as our region and signifies the level of confidence that major retailers have in Forbes” said Mayor Penny.
The commencement of construction of the Forbes Homemaker Centre marks the end of a long road with Mayor Penny acknowledging Councils persistence, the efforts of Projects and Infrastructure (p+i) who have been working with Council from the beginning of the project as well as the Bunnings and Spotlight development teams. Mayor Penny went on to say “The level of commitment from the beginning to this point has been significant and it is pleasing to see the efforts of many come to fruition.”
Official commencement of construction will be at 11am tomorrow, 24 July with Mayor Penny saying he is armed and ready with the silver shovel. “The Forbes Homemakers Centre will transform the old sale yards site into a vibrant new business and retail centre and that all starts tomorrow” said Mayor Penny.
The Bunnings store is expected to be open by mid 2014 and construction of the Spotlight store is expected to commence in the coming months.
