Forbes Shire Council is encouraging community members to provide feedback on its draft Our Forbes Shire Community Strategic Plan 2017-2027.
Our Economic Development
Our community's diverse needs are met for living, working and learning and the economic drivers of the Shire are enhanced.
Our Environment
Our stunning rural, residential and industrial environments remain healthy, sustained and attractive for future generations.
Our Leadership and Governance
Our community participates in decision-making, is well informed and our leadership is responsive, builds partnerships and plans for the future needs of Forbes Shire.
Our Infrastructure
Our infrastructure is built and maintained to connect people and places, remains resilient and meets the future needs of Forbes Shire.
Extensive community consultation was carried out at the end of last year including 21 workshops, surveys, an online web portal and youth engagement to create the plan.
General Manager Danny Green said Council's strategic plan was a guiding document for Council, which clearly outlines the Council's vision and strategies so that we can plan for the future.
"After an extensive community engagement process, this comprehensive strategic plan reflects the feedback received and we are now calling on the community to have their say once again by providing feedback on the draft plan," Danny said.
"I encourage
residents to read the draft plan and provide their feedback on any
points," Danny said.
“Some of the key messages from the draft plan include: optimise council assets and facilities, partner programs that enhance and value add to our agricultural sector, lobby for continued TAFE and education opportunities and a police presence, continue residential and industrial development, enhanced management of our roads and develop a cooperative approach to addressing flood impacts on the Newell Highway.”
As part of the draft exhibition period, Council is also conducting community consultation.
There will be two public meetings from 3.30pm to 5pm and 5.30pm to 7pm on Wednesday, April 12 at the Forbes Town Hall.
Council will also have
information stands at the Forbes Public School Easter Fete this Friday, Rotary Ipomoea Markets on
Saturday, April 8 and Bedgerabong Country Fair on Sunday, April 9.
Council officers will also be in attendance at a number of community group meetings and events.
Please send your submissions by post or email to Council by 5pm on Thursday, April 20. For further information contact Nina Hooper, Council's Community Development Manager on 6850 2358.
