Growth management strategyLast modified: June 24, 2009 - 10:52 AM
Forbes Shire Council is inviting the local community to have a say in Council's rural planning, with the Council's Growth Management Strategy - Draft Rural Lands Supplement currently on public exhibition. The 55-page Supplement aims to ensure "that the rural lands of the Shire have a sustainable future". Council adopted its Growth Management Strategy in 2007, however the rural lands were deferred to consider the Minister for Planning's Independent Review Panel Central West Rural Lands Inquiry and subsequent State Government response. The Draft Rural Supplement has now been prepared by Edge Land Planning and includes recommendations that Council adopts a 200 hectare minimum allotment size for dwelling entitlements in the rural area, with exceptions for existing allotments and irrigated agriculture as well as an area for small rural holdings between Calarie Road and the Alcheringa Estate. A full copy of the Forbes Shire Growth Management Strategy Draft Rural Lands Supplement is available for download below, and can be obtained from Council's Environmental Services Department, phone (02) 6850 2344 or email forbes@forbes.nsw.gov.au. The Supplement is currently on public exhibition, with Council inviting submissions from the community by January 30, 2009. Contact details
