When are rates due? Rates are due on the following dates for the 2007/2008 rating year *31 August 2007 *30 November 2007 *28 February 2008 *31 May 2008 For any ratepayer wishing to pay the amount in full, payments must be made by 31 August 2007. Otherwise any installments becoming overdue will accrue interest. What options are there to pay my rates? There are a number of options for you to pay your rates. Option 1 - Payments of rates and charges by quarterly instalments Rates my be paid by quarterly instalments in accordance with Section 532 of the Local Government Act 1993. If an instalment is unpaid by its due date, daily interest charges will accure immediately on that instalment. Instalment reminder notices will be sent to those ratepayers who choose to pay by instalment. Option 2 - Payment of rates and charges in full If you wish to pay the total amount due in full, payment should be made on or before THE FIRST INSTALMENT DUE DATE as daily interest will accure immediately on the FIRST INSTALMENT if unpaid by its due date. PROCEDEEDINGS WILL BE TAKEN FOR THE RECOVERY OF ANY AMOUNT OVERDUE AS PROVIDED IN THE ACT. THEREFORE, PLEASE PAY PROMTLY. COUNCIL will consider any reasonable offer for payment by regular instalments should financial difficulties prevent payment, provided contact is made with Council's Rate Department by the due date. COUNCIL may waive interest charges under Special Circumstances provided the circumstances are detailed in writing to the General Manager. How do I pay? In Person: Payments may be made in person at Forbes Shire Council between 8.30am and 5.00pm, Council accepts Cheque, Cash, Credit Card and EFTPOS. Direct Debit: Payments made from your bank account. Contact Council for an application form. By Mail: Cheques should be payable to: Forbes Shire Council and crossed "Not Negotiable".
